An important feature of manufacture is the need to ensure the right product is filled into the right container and packed in the right carton with the right label attached.

A number of controls are in place to make sure this happens:

• Each ampoule is colour-coded with a series of coloured rings applied after filling and sealing.
       
• The ampoule label carries a specific bar code.
• The ampoule carton carries a specific bar code

As the ampoules are labelled, the coloured rings are checked automatically and matched to the label. The labelling machine comes to a halt if the two do not match. When the ampoules are packed, the presence of a label is detected and the bar code matched to the carton. Again, if there is no label or no match, the machine comes to a halt until the problem is resolved.

With such controls in place, the customer can be confident that the correct product will always be delivered in the correct carton.
